Wren works in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Children's Hospital of Columbus in Ohio. She has a bachelor of science degree in physical education with a minor in secondary education from Palm Beach Atlantic and master of science degree from Miami University in Ohio. Presently, she is pursuing a master's degree at Kettering College of Medical Arts, where she is studying to become a physician assistant and plans to work in pediatric emergency medicine. She attends The Vineyard Church of Columbus.
Chris Gryskiewicz '88, is a four-year letter winner in the men's basketball program from 1984-88. He suited up in 109 games for the Sailfish. He ranks fourth all-time with 1,261 points, and is ranked fifth in field goals made. Gryskiewicz was All-Conference all fours years he was at PBA, and won the President's Athlete of the Year Award in 1988. In his four year stint as a Sailfish he was first in 3-point percentage with a .418 career, fifth in free-throws made with a career high of 218, and 178 steals.
Curtis Lynch is now a high-school science teacher and soccer coach at Sarasota Christian School the past 11 years, winning a pair of divisional and district titles while amassing over 100 victories. In 1996 he was named Who's Who Among America's Teachers. He is the Founder and Director of the Sarasota Christian School soccer camp and coaches at several other camps throughout the United States. He and his wife, Pamela, have a son and they attend Woodland Baptist Church.
Jennifer Brecht Bowen '91, is one of the most decorated players in the history of Sailfish volleyball. She was a four-time all-conference selection, leading the Sailfish to three consecutive conference championships from 1988-1990 and back-to-back conference tournament titles in her final two campaigns. She led the NCCAA in hitting percentage in each of her first two seasons and earned the Coaches Award during her junior season. During her senior year, she was the conference player of the year, District 2 Player of the Year, NCCAA all-American and NAIA District 25 Player of the Year. Bowen graduated from PBA in 1991 and is a bioremediation sampling coordinator for American Ordnance in Milan, Tenn. She coordinates efforts for sampling, removing, and treating explosive contaminated soils at the Milan Army Ammunition Plant. She also is a master's degree candidate in biological sciences at the University of Mississippi. Her husband, William Dalton, Sr., is an alumnus of the class of 1992 and is an attorney in Milan, Tenn. They have a son.
Jay McCormick, '87, is a four-year letter winner in the men's basketball program from 1983-1987. He suited up in a record 120 games for the Sailfish. He ranks third all-time with 1,372 points, 495 field goals and a .565 field goal percentage. The 1984-1985 campaign was by far his best, averaging 16.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. McCormick graduated from PBA in 1987 and is a mathematics teacher at Wellington High. Now beginning his 10th season as coach of the boys' varsity basketball team, he also coaches the girls' varsity tennis team. The Florida Athletic Coaches Association named him Coach of the Year for the 6A Division Schools in 1995-96 and 1997-98 years. The Palm Beach County Athletic Conference named him Coach of the Year for the 6A Division Schools in 1997-98. The Sun Sentinel named him Coach of the Year in 1997-98. Jay and his wife Michelle have two children. They attend Jog Road Baptist Church where Jay teaches the high school bible study.
Stefanie Vavich, '94, is PBA's undisputed leader when it comes to volleyball records. Vavich's records for kills per game, hitting percentage, solo blocks, block assists, total blocks and blocking average remain untouched. She was named an NAIA All-American in 1993-1994, and was similarly honored in her previous seasons. Vavich, who hails from Florence, Ore., attended PBA from 1989-1994. She graduated with a bachelor's degree, majoring in Physical Education with a minor in Art. A resident of Palm Beach Gardens, she is the manager and marketing director of Home Health Depot, Inc. in West Palm Beach.
Leonard Banks, '84,who played Sailfish basketball from 1981-1984, holds the PBA record as all-time leading scorer. His career highlights includes firsts in number of field goals made (884), field goal attempts (1,574) and total points (2,034). In the 1981-1982 season, he averaged 30.4 points per game, scoring 62 points against Landmark Baptist that season. In 1984, he received an honorable mention for the All-America awards. Banks graduated from PBA in 1984, majoring in Physical Education with a minor in Psychology. He holds a master's degree in Educational Leadership and Physical Education from Nova University. Banks teaches mathematics at Gold Coast Community School in West Palm Beach. For the past 12 years, he also has been head coach of the John I. Leonard boys' basketball team.
