University Awards 2012-2013 Quality Initiative Grants

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at Palm Beach Atlantic University has announced the recipients of the 2012-2013 Quality Initiative Faculty and Student Research Grants. The grantees' work begins immediately and continues through June 30, 2013.

The recipients are:

♦   Dr. Mireille Aleman, assistant professor of chemistry, and Ashley Dolberry, senior biology major, “Cytotoxicity of Annona Glabra (Pond Apple) Crude Extracts on Breast Cancer Cells.”

♦   Dr. Sanaz Dovell, assistant professor of chemistry, and Taj Anderson, junior biology major, “Isolation and Purification of Anticancer Components of Crude Extracts from Annona Glabra (Pond Apple) Seeds.”

♦   Dr. Keysha Bryant, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, and Dr. Carmela Nanton, professor of education in the MacArthur School of Leadership, “Are We Measuring Up? Needs Assessment of Leadership in Pharmacy.”

♦   Dr. Yuh Jia (Mike) Chen, professor of business statistics, “The Relationships Among Students’ Christian Values, Money Attitudes and Unethical Behavior: Do the Cultural Factors Matter?”

♦   Dr. Andrea Dyben, assistant professor of psychology at the Orlando Campus, “Experiential Learning Abroad as a Part of Graduate Counselor Education.”

♦   Dr. Ashley Johnson, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, “Identifying Medication Discrepancies in an Indigent Ambulatory Care Clinic.”

♦   Dr. James Mitroka, associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences, “CYP1A2 Genotype and Phenotype Analysis in a Cohort of Pharmacy Students.”

♦   Diane Kimball Parker, Orlando graduate student in mental health counseling, “Parent-Adolescent Relationship Therapy: “Returning the Hearts of the Fathers to Their Children.”
