Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy will present “Prescription for Health,” a free event to assist and educate the community from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Gaines Park in West Palm Beach.
Pharmacists, healthcare providers and pharmacy and nursing students will provide a variety of free services, including consultations and screenings. Health screenings include blood pressure and diabetes, as well as cholesterol education. Visitors also can receive medication counseling, and pharmacists will assist with proper disposal of expired medications on site. Immunizations also will be available from both CVS and Walgreens for a fee.
Attendees can visit health-related booths offering information on such topics as smoking cessation, breast cancer, HIV/AIDS, asthma/COPD, poison prevention and children’s health.
Several student pharmacy organizations will participate in the event, including the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
Sponsors of this year’s health fair include Walgreens, CVS and McDonald’s. For information, contact email@example.com.
