“High Tea by the Sea” was the theme of the Palm Beach Atlantic University Alumni Association’s 2013 Afternoon Tea and Silent Auction, held April 27 at The Beach Club in Palm Beach. The tea raised $17,000 for scholarships.
Major sponsors of the event included LionMaus Media, Tiffany & Co., First Southern Bank, Josephine Bayard, Northern Trust and The Gardens Mall among others. Palm Beach Society magazine was the media sponsor.
Fonda Huizenga, the keynote speaker, gave an inspirational talk about her faith, her family and her career. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with degrees in both biomedical and electrical engineering, and worked for both Procter & Gamble and Cordis Corporation before deciding to devote herself fully to her home and husband.
The afternoon included a silent auction and Tiffany & Co. provided raffle prizes and awards for the best nautical-themed attire.
