The honorees each received clear Lucite paperweights bearing that theme.

“You have collaborated, and you have united people in a special way” across the PBA campus, President Fleming said.

He recognized three employees who helped plan this year’s Alcohol Awareness Week programming, which included participation by Health and Wellness, the Athletics Department’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Campus Safety. The honorees were Faye Bible, director of Health and Wellness; Whitney Bailey, assistant athletic director for internal operations; and Sgt. Cameron Carver with Campus Safety.

Bailey worked with the SAAC representatives, Bible involved peer educators and residence directors and Carver involved officers from outside agencies like the West Palm Beach Police Department as well as officers in Campus Safety. The team planned a week of activities and a fun educational event called “Mocktober Fest,” which was held in the student center on Oct. 8.

The event featured Narcotics Overdose Prevention and Education (NOPE), a representative from the State Attorney’s office, the West Palm Beach Police Department, field sobriety examinations and a wall where students could write their names as a pledge that they will not drink and drive. About 200 students attended the event.

President Fleming also thanked Steve Baker, dean of the Warren Library, for spearheading the PBA One….Reads book club.

“As an institution that places scholarship at the top, along with faith, this was a classy way to bring people together under one theme,” President Fleming said.

He also thanked Phillip Major, associate vice president for Campus Information Services, for his leadership of the team that oversaw the transition of the Campus Store to new management by Follett Higher Education Group.

“A good team needs a good leader,” President Fleming said.
