Dr. Timothy Ladd, who has served as the faculty athletics representative (FAR) for the Palm Beach Atlantic University Athletics Department for the past decade, was named the vice chair of the NCAA Division II Management Council. The announcement came at the recent NCAA National Convention.
Since 2011 Dr. Ladd has represented the Sailfish within the NCAA ranks as a member of the Division II Management Council. In Dr. Ladd’s new role, he will continue to interact with other athletics administrators at various NCAA member institutions while attending meetings throughout the year at the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind.
This important group helps shape the future of Division II and its 282 current member institutions.
The Management Council is made up of one administrator from each of the Division II multisport voting conferences, one administrator of a Division II independent institution and two “at-large” positions. The committee must include at least four athletic directors, four senior woman administrators (SWA), four faculty athletics representatives and at least one conference commissioner.
“The quality of representation our Athletic Department and student-athletes have experienced by having Dr. Ladd as a part of our team is the same level of commitment the NCAA will continue to experience as he moves into this new role,” said PBA Director of Athletics Carolyn Stone.
“His experience and the level of care he puts into his role as FAR has obviously been recognized by his peers on the Management Council. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have someone of Dr. Ladd’s abilities and character representing Palm Beach Atlantic Athletics on such a national stage.”
Dr. Ladd was ratified as the new vice chair at the President's Council meeting as part of the NCAA National Convention in San Diego, Calif., a few weeks ago. He replaces Karen Stromme, senior woman administrator at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, who will assume the Management Council's chair position.
Dr. Ladd is a faculty member of the School of Education and Behavioral Studies, where he serves as associate professor of education.
