On Tuesday, voters elected Jeff Hmara, an adjunct professor in Palm Beach Atlantic University’s MacArthur School of Leadership, to Royal Palm Beach’s vacant Group 1 village council seat.
Hmara, a retired U.S. Army colonel, has been an adjunct faculty member at PBA since 2007. He teaches several courses, including organizational leadership and organizational management.
Before coming to PBA, Hmara was an administrative officer for the Transportation Security Administration, and he also served with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from The Citadel and a master’s degree in acquisition and contract management from Florida Institute of Technology.
His military honors include the Distinguished Service Award, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal.
He and his wife, Caroline, have lived in Royal Palm Beach for nine years.
