Veteran firefighter and Palm Beach Atlantic University alumnus Jeffrey Collins has been named chief of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. He replaces retired Chief Steve Jerauld.
Collins, who previously served as a deputy chief and fire marshal with the department, was sworn in as chief last week. He has 19 years of experience, having served the past 17 years with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
Collins is president of the Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, and he earned a Master of Science degree in organizational leadership from PBA in 2006.
MacArthur School of Leadership Dean Dr. Jim Laub recalls Collins as “a good, dedicated student who always sought to apply his learning on leadership to his role with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.”
Collins will be the third chief in the history of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, following Jerauld and Herman Brice, who retired in 2009.
