At the United States Institute of Theatre Technology Conference, Palm Beach Atlantic University Associate Professor of Theatre Ann Cadaret won a trophy at a session called “Stump The Rigger.”
Rigging includes the design and installation of stage equipment: all of the lines, pulleys, hoists, motors, ropes, and hardware that go into placing things above people’s heads by truss, fly systems or in buildings.
During the session, audience members present their questions and technical problems to a select group of industry experts. The person who stumps them wins the Jack Suesse Memorial Stump The Rigger trophy and bragging rights for a year.
Cadaret’s question pertained to the University's Fern Street Theatre. “I’m not sure I actually ‘stumped’ the riggers, but my question did spark a lively discussion,” she said.
