Dr. John Cuddeback, professor of philosophy at Christendom College, will speak on the topic “St. Thomas Aquinas on the Need for Human Friendship” at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in the DeSantis Family Chapel at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Dr. Cuddeback teaches several courses at Christendom College, including Introduction to Philosophy, Logic, Philosophy of Human Nature, Metaphysics, History of Medieval Philosophy, History of Modern Philosophy, Philosophy of St. Thomas Aquinas, Ethics, Recent Philosophy, Philosophy of God, Society and the Common Good and Philosophy of Family and Household.
His publications include his 2010 book “True Friendship: Where Virtue Becomes Happiness” and several articles, such as “Renewing Husbandry: Wendell Berry, Aristotle, and Thomas Aquinas on ‘Economics’” in Nova et Vetera; “A Free Culture: Living the Primacy of the For-Itself” in the book “The Human Person and a Culture of Freedom;” “Truth and Friendship: The Importance of the Conversation of Friends” in “Truth Matters;” and “The Enduring Influence of Aristotle on Philosophy and Theology” in Veritas: A Journal of the Natural Law Study Center.
The lecture series commemorates the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274), a university professor and Dominican priest who organized the study of theology in the “Summa Theologiae.”
