Robert Elliott, a 1987 graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University who now serves as unit manager for human resources with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, will receive the Alumnus Service Award during Homecoming this week.

A resident of Palm Beach Gardens, Elliott has worked with the Sheriff’s Office since 2008. He has volunteered with several organizations both in Florida and in Texas, where he lived previously.

In Texas he was a grief counselor for children at The WARM Place in Fort Worth. When he returned to Florida in 1993, he volunteered with a charitable organization known as Win for the Kids. A few years later, he started volunteering with Hearts & Hope as a grief counselor and continued in this role until 1999.

Elliott earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from PBA. He served on the University’s Alumni Association board from 1993 to 2001 and has been involved with the golf tournament committee since 1993. The annual tournament raises money for scholarships.

“I was blessed to attend PBA,” Elliott said. “If it had not been for the scholarships I received through my church and the scholarships PBA provided, I most likely would not have attended or graduated from PBA. Helping with the tournament is a way of giving back to the University and to current and future students.”

When he attended PBA, Elliott was the chaplain for student government, and he also worked for PBA as a recruiter in the admissions office.

Elliott will be recognized during a Homecoming dinner and alumni awards presentation at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Weyenberg Center in the Lassiter Student Center. The event is one of the highlights of Homecoming weekend. For information, visit www.pba.edu/homecoming.
