STUDENTS

When can I come back to the residence hall?

Residence halls open at Noon on Friday, Sept. 15. Contact reslife@pba.edu or 561-803-2555 if you have questions about your hall or a different arrival time.

When are classes resuming?

Daytime classes in West Palm Beach resume Monday, Sept. 18. Academic leadership with deans and faculty are determining how to handle missed assignments, labs, etc.

Orlando campus is open Thursday, Sept. 14, for evening undergraduate and graduate classes as well as the offices.

For ONLINE students, instructors will work with you to flex deadlines for those affected by Hurricane Irma.

For GRADUATE students, most classes resume Monday, Sept. 18, though selected Thursday classes are meeting in West Palm Beach (students will hear from their schools or professors. Overall, expect instructions from your program director concerning schedule adjustments.

For EVENING UNDERGRADUATE students, classes resume in West Palm Beach Monday, Sept. 18.

Are there changes in the academic calendar for the fall semester (i.e. Fall Break, Thanksgiving break)?

There are no changes to the published academic calendar for this semester. The breaks and the end of the semester remain unchanged.

Will missed classes be made up?

There is a plan to make up classes, labs, etc. Instructors will share the details with their students next week. The plans are customized according to the classes and assignments that were missed. 

If I stored my car in the garage but don’t have a garage permit, when do I need to move it?

Students are asked to move their car out of the Oceanview parking garage by Sunday evening.

When does campus dining reopen?

Einstein Bros. Bagels and the P.O.D. is open from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday. Both locations will resume normal hours on Friday.

Fraser Dining Hall will open up at 11:30 a.m. with a limited menu on Friday and will return to a full menu on Saturday.

Chick-Fil-A will remain closed until Monday.

What else is open?

What types of damage did campus sustain?

The campus had debris from trees and landscaping on the exterior of campus. There are limited areas of water intrusion and AC issues that National began addressing immediately. If you have an area of concern in your residence that you would like to report, please submit a work order via the campus work order system or contact a Residence Life staff member.

Monday, Sept. 11 (7 p.m.) 

Following a preliminary assessment of the West Palm Beach campus following Hurricane Irma, the following is the current status:

  • Classes in West Palm Beach and Orlando are cancelled through Wednesday, and the campuses are closed. The WPB campus received little damage to buildings however landscape sustained some damage. Much of Palm Beach County is without power at this time, including PBA; we will not open until power is restored.
  • Online classes are suspended. Residence halls are closed; residents will be notified when they can return.  
  • The Dixie Garage will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, for those who wish to obtain their vehicles.
  • Other campus buildings remain closed and entry will not be granted to anyone other than those who are assessing and restoring the property.
  • Palm Beach County has a dusk-to-dawn curfew in place to allow crews to restore power and remove debris from roadways.
  • The dedication of the Rinker Sports Center is postponed.
  • A comprehensive assessment of the Orlando campus is planned for Tuesday.
