Ray Directs Hurricane Andrew Documentary

 Andrew Ray

Andrew Ray, assistant professor of cinema arts, directed a documentary sponsored by Florida Power & Light (FPL) Company on the 25th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew. The film debuted last month at HistoryMiami Museum’s: “Remembering Andrew” exhibit during a gala with local leaders and dignitaries.

Ray hired cinema-television students Phil Kalicharan from Margate, Florida; Austin Parenti from Jupiter, Florida; David Merrill from Pompano Beach, Florida and Zach Guinta from Connecticut. He also hired 2016 PBA cinema-television alumnus Anthony Rose from West Palm Beach, Florida to work on set with him. The film has over three quarters of a million views on Facebook at this time, which can be viewed here.

“I am grateful to FPL for the opportunity to direct this film as well as Palm Beach Atlantic for their support. It’s simply an honor,” said Ray.

Ray expressed his thanks to Duane Meeks, dean of the School of Communication and Media, and Provost and Chief Academic Officer Randy Richards for allowing him the time to finish this project.
