PBA Prepares to Celebrate Advent

 Advent guide

Preparing for Christmas is no small task in this day in age. However, for Christians of many denominations, the weeks preceding Christmas are filled with prayer and thanksgiving in a time called Advent.

The four Sundays before Christmas are celebrated by church congregations and families as they light candles each week signifying the four virtues that Christ brings us: hope, love, joy and peace.

A treasured Palm Beach Atlantic University tradition is the Advent devotional guide, edited by Dr. Ken Mahanes, special advisor to the President. The guide includes devotions written by students, alumni, faculty, staff and administrators.

This year again, the guide will be published as a fully digital version. Daily devotions will arrive in the email boxes of those who register for this free service. Advent starts Sunday, December 3. Devotions will be delivered each day culminating in a special message for Christmas Day, December 25.

Last year’s digital advent guide earned the Radiance Award in the category of publications - newsletters or booklets, from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Sunshine District.
